Microsoft announced some blockbuster gaming news this morning with the arrival of Fortnite on the Xbox app on PC. The game will launch in the Xbox app on November 18 and will also become an Xbox Play Anywhere title.
Fortnite on PC is currently exclusively available via the Epic Games Store, and it’s not even available on Valve’s leading Steam platform. With Xbox Play Anywhere support, players using the new Xbox on PC version of the game will see their progress and purchases sync across Xbox consoles, PC, and gaming handhelds like the ROG Xbox Ally.
Microsoft getting such a big publisher like Epic Games to support the Xbox app on PC and the Xbox Play Anywhere program is quite a big deal. The Xbox team often touts Xbox Play Anywhere momentum, and there are now over 1,000 games that support the feature, with new titles being added to the list every month.
You may also remember that Fortnite was the first free-to-play game on Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming, no Game Pass subscription required, and that’s still the case today. Starting November 18, the Fortnite Crew perk will also bring monthly benefits across Fortnite (and Rocket League) to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members.
