Fable is Coming to Xbox, PC, and PS5 in Autumn 2026

Fable

Microsoft just wrapped up its Xbox Developer_Direct 2026 broadcast, and the livestream ended with Fable, its most-anticipated game. Following a delay in February 2025, Fable will now be released in Autumn 2026, and it’s also coming to PlayStation 5.

The game coming day on date on PlayStation 5 is quite a surprise as Forza Horizon 6, which is developed by the same studio, will be coming to PS5 months after its initial release on Xbox and PC on May 19, 2026. That game will be set in Japan and offer “the largest and densest map of any Horizon game to date.”

But back to Fable: The game looks very ambitious with a deep character customization system and a living open world. Developer Playground Games said that the fairytale world of Albion will feature more than a thousand different characters, each with their own personality and daily activities.

I can only think of Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 for a similar level of immersion, though Fable players will be able to talk to all of these characters, date and marry some of them, hire them to work for their various businesses, and more. Playground Games also brought back the reputation and morality systems from the previous Fable games, and familiar enemies will be back, too.

The two other games Microsoft showed today are Beast of Reincarnation, an action RPG coming to Game Pass on day one in Summer 2026, and Kiln, a surprise new game from Psychonauts developer Double Fine Studios. The latter is described as “an online multiplayer pottery-party brawler,” and it will launch on Xbox, PC, and PS5 in Spring 2026.
