Xbox’s Avowed Game Gets an Anniversary Update and PlayStation 5 Release

Avowed Playstation 5

Avowed, Obsidian Entertainment’s latest heroic-fantasy RPG released a year ago on Xbox and PC is coming to PlayStation 5 today. It’s also getting a big anniversary update on all platforms, with new playable races, custom game options, and a New Game+ mode.

Obisidian Entertainment is one of Xbox’s most prolific studios with 3 games released last year: Avowed, Grounded 2, and The Outer Worlds 2. While the latter was released day and date on PlayStation 5, it took a year for Avowed to get a PS5 release, and Grounded 2 has yet to be announced for Sony’s console.

In addition to new races and New Game Plus mode, the anniversary update for Avowed introduces a Photo mode, a new weapon type with the quarterstaff, new character presets and Godlike feature presets, and the ability to change appearance in the world. There are also custom difficulty modifiers, allowing players to fine-tune how they want to play the game. You can check the full patch notes for the update on this page.

For Xbox gamers, Avowed is now available on Xbox Game Pass Premium following its day-one launch on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. For everyone else, Avowed Standard Edition is priced at $49.99 on the Xbox Store and PlayStation Store.
