Microsoft Starts Testing Postgame Recaps on its Xbox PC App

Xbox PC app postgame recaps

Microsoft has started testing new postgame recaps on its Xbox PC app that will appear at the end of some play sessions. The new feature is rolling out to Xbox Insiders on Windows 11 enrolled in the PC Game Preview, and testers can control what they want to see.

“After you finish a play session, you may see a quick recap that highlights moments from that session—like captures you took, achievements you unlocked, and relevant in‑game events—plus an option to share feedback so we can keep improving the experience,” the Xbox team explained. “On your first time playing a game (and occasionally after that), you may also see a short check‑in and recommendations for other games you might enjoy.”

Postgame recaps the Xbox app to keep running in the background while you’re playing a game, but the Xbox team said that it optimized the experience “to minimize memory and performance impact.” Fortunately, you can disable the feature entirely or just opt out of some postgame recap types in in Settings > App > Postgame recaps.

The Xbox team will be listening to Insider feedback to improve this experience. While postgame recaps are designed to only appear “when they’re useful,” some PC players may find that they’re just getting in the way. Anyway, that’s why Microsoft is rolling out this feature first to Insiders on the Xbox PC Gaming Preview.
