The Xbox team just announced some upcoming changes to its Achievements system, and select Xbox Insiders will get to try some of them starting today. The first noticeable change is a visual refresh for achievements notifications on Xbox consoles. The achievements list will also highlight 100% completed games with a new gradient effect.
“We’ve refreshed achievement notifications with a new look and feel, including updated icons and animations when you unlock classic or rare achievements. Notifications will also match your custom color, making each unlock feel more personal,” the Xbox team said today.
Next, Microsoft found a way to highlight 100% completed games in the achievement list, with a new gradient effect that uses the custom color set on the console. There’s also a subtle glowing effect on the 100% number. Overall, this seems to be Microsoft’s answer to PlayStation’s Platinum trophies, and the achievements list is also getting a new filter to makes 100% completed games easier to find.

Later this month, Xbox Insiders will also gain the ability to hide any game from their Achievement history on their profile. Hidden games will still count towards the total Gamerscore, so this is just for hiding a game that you may find embarrassing on your achievements list. As a reminder, that list can still be hidden from all your friends if you change your Xbox privacy settings.
“This is a small but meaningful step in a broader set of improvements we’re making to Achievements. We’re continuing to explore new ways to recognize completion and milestone moments over time, and this update is one of our first steps towards celebrating those moments,” the Xbox team said today.
It’s nice to see the Xbox team give more attention to the Xbox console experience, and this is something Asha Sharma, the new CEO of Microsoft Gaming, seems to care about. “We stood up a dedicated team to focus on fan feedback,” the exec posted on X today. The exec also confirmed that more updates would be coming soon.
