Asus Reveals ROG XBOX Ally X20 With OLED Display Bundled With XREAL R1 Glasses

Asus Rog Xbox Ally X20 bundle

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its ROG brand, Asus announced at Computex today the ROG XBOX Ally X20 bundle. It includes an upgraded version of the gaming handheld with an OLED display and other design changes, as well as a pair of ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR glasses.

“Featuring a translucent black chassis with a vibrant gold internal structure, this machine is both a throwback to gaming two decades ago, and a vision of the future. The ROG XBOX Ally X20 brings a brand-new Nebula HDR Display to the Ally for the first time, with a gorgeous 7.4-inch OLED panel,” Asus said today.

The new OLED display on the ROG XBOX Ally X20 offers a 120Hz refresh rate, FreeSync Premium Pro and Dolby Vision support, and 1,400 nits of peak brightness. Because OLED displays are more sensitive to heat than LCD panels, Asus redesigned the handheld’s thermal system on the ROG XBOX Ally X20. There’s also an anti-reflective coating that reduces glare by 65%.

The upgraded handheld also offers a transforming D-Pad and more responsive sticks that use TMR technology. Under the hood, the limited edition gaming handheld still uses AMD’s Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme CPU, coupled with 24GB of LPDDR5X memory and 1TB of NVMe storage. Microsoft’s new Auto SR upscaling technology is also available for improving graphics performance.

The ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses that are available in the bundle feature a matching black and gold colorway, and they can be plugged into the handheld with a USB-C cable. The AR glasses offer a 171-inch micro-OLED virtual screen at 4 meters, with a 240Hz refresh rate and a 0.01ms response time. There’s also 3DoF head tracking support to allow the screen to follow head movements.

Asus has yet to announce pricing details for this ROG XBOX Ally X20 bundle, but I’ll update this post when I get more information.
