Xbox Announces Release Dates for Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, and Fable

Halo Campaign Evolved

Microsoft has just kicked off its Xbox Games Showcase by showing its biggest upcoming first-party games. There was first a gameplay trailer for Gears of War: E-Day, which is now confirmed to be an Xbox console exclusive.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma appeared on camera to announce the game’s exclusivity to the Xbox ecosystem. Gears of War: E-Day will be released on October 6 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass, and the first gameplay trailer showed very familiar gameplay with some welcome improvements to movement: We briefly saw lead character slide, climb on a shelf, and jump! Running animations also no longer look awkward.

The Fable reboot, which was recently delayed to avoid the release of GTA VI in November, will now launch on February 23, 2027. Unlike Gears of War: E-Day, this one will be released on PlayStation 5, though this isn’t new. It still shows Microsoft’s awkward position regarding exclusives, however.

What’s new about Fable is that the game will soon become available for pre-order. Doing so will grant you the Pre-Order Content Pack, which features the heroic Chicken Suit and a collection of in-game gifts. Early access will also be included with the Premium Edition beginning February 18.

Lastly, Microsoft showed another Halo: Campaign Evolved trailer right after Fable. The remake of the original Halo game from Bungie will launch on Xbox, PC, PS5, and Game Pass on July 28, and it will include 3 new missions featuring the Master Chief teaming up with Sgt. Johnson.

“Operation: Meteorite is a new three-mission story arc that takes place a year before the events of the first game. Featuring the Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson, this new adventure sends players behind enemy lines in a clandestine UNSC operation aboard a Covenant research vessel. What starts as a simple smash and grab turns more complicated as they encounter more than they bargained for,” the Xbox team explained today.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is also available for pre-order at $49.99 / £49.99 / €59.99 for the Standard Edition. The Premium Edition ($69.99/£69.99/€79.99) will offer up to five days of early access beginning July 23, the Alpha Halo Armory Pack, and the Digital Story & Art Collection.

Moreover, the Collector’s Edition ($199.99/€199.99) includes all Premium Edition content plus a 12-inch Dark Horse Master Chief statue, light-up LED Cortana chip, Steelbook, three original concept art prints, a physical version of the reimagined game manual, and a game disc for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 consoles. Lastly, all pre-orders will grant access to the Foundry Armory Pack featuring cosmetics inspired by the original Xbox game.
