Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution are the first Xbox Games Studios titles in a while to be confirmed as not coming to other consoles. The first one will be released on October 6, while the second one currently has a 2027 release date.
« As part of our focus on the return of XBOX, we also announced that Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will be XBOX console exclusives. These are not timed exclusives. Games already announced for multiplatform releases will stick to that plan – we’re committed to investing in and growing XBOX both on console and beyond, » the Xbox team said today.
Gears of War: E-Day got its own E-Day Direct broadcast today, which offered an in-depth look into the first new Gears game in six years. The Xbox team described it as a « time-bending first-person action RPG set in the steampunk city of Avalon, » and it feels quite reminiscent of the cult-classic BioShock series.
Everything other new Xbox Games Studios title Microsoft showed today will be multiplatform, and here’s the complete list:
Overall, this year’s Xbox Games Showcase was pretty solid, and we finally got our first look at State of Decay 3 from Undead Labs, and the new Senua game from Ninja Theory seems to be taking more God of War-inspired direction. I expected that we would also get a release date for the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 6, but that will likely happen later this year.
