Games with Gold: September 2015

Games with Gold: September 2015

Believe it or not, September is almost upon us. But that means another month of free Xbox One and Xbox 360 games for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. And this next month’s Games with Gold deliveries look particularly good.

Before getting to that, Call of Duty fans will want to check out the free multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops III for Xbox One. You have to move quick, though, as access will be cut off tonight at 10pm PT. And, if you weren’t a fan of Advanced Warfare, as I am not, know that this game features the same style of vertically-oriented, jetpack-based action.

OK, on to September. As is the normal schedule moving forward, there will be two games each on Xbox One and Xbox 360, though the availability schedules for each console remain curiously different. They are …

Xbox One

tomb

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition. Available for the entire month and normally costing $29.99, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition “combines almost all of the downloadable content and all updates from 2013’s Tomb Raider, along with high-resolution 1080p graphics, into a single, easy-to-download package.”

deer

The Deer God. Also available all throughout September, The Deer God will normally cost $14.99. In this game, “You play a hunter who is suddenly switched into the body of a deer – and vice versa. You must learn to survive, and eventually escape from the body of the deer that you now inhabit.” (This title is not yet available in the Xbox Store.)

Xbox 360

battle

Battlestations: Pacific. This title is normally $24.99 and is available from September 1-15. It “gives players the chance to command fleets on either the American or Japanese sides, making strategic decisions to determine the outcomes, but also taking command of individual units from battleships to submarines to fighter planes and dive bombers, as they see fit. Influence the course of history as an admiral or as a single sailor in this grand strategy-simulation experience.”

crysis

Crysis 3. This former blockbuster currently retails for $19.99 ERP and is available for free from September 16-30. Crysis 3 is “a challenging, fast-paced first-person shooter, filled with excellent enemy A.I., mind-blowing graphics, and some pretty awesome weapons and innovative gadgetry.”

Game on.
