Google Makes It Easier for Developers to Bring Mobile Games to the PC

At its annual Google for Game Developers Summit this week, Google revealed how it is making it easier for developers to bring mobile games to the PC. The firm also revealed some momentum for its Google Play Games on PC service.

Google Play Games for PC lets Windows users play Android games on their PCs. The service is currently available in the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan. But it will be expanding to Europe and Japan in the coming months. And it will be adding several more games, including Garena Free Fire, Ludo King, and MapleStory M.

To date, developers have had to tailor their mobile games to run well on the PC. But through a partnership with Intel, Google now makes it easier for developers to bring existing mobile titles to the PC with the understanding that they will be optimized further over time. The firm is also offering developers a new Google Play Games on PC developer emulator that’s designed for the debug and build process. It lets developers deploy games directly and validate different configurations.

Google also revealed that it will update its Play Games Services, which currently hosts over 2 billion player profiles, to support the Next Generation Player IDs that are rolling out later this year.

There’s a lot more going on at the summit, and you can learn more at the Google Play Games on PC developer website, which includes links to this week’s sessions via YouTube.
