Sadly, that’s all Epic Games has to say on that topic, but this serves as a great reminder of what the right antitrust regulations can do: As I’ve noted elsewhere, the DMA should serve as a model for the rest of the world to follow in reining in Big Tech.

Epic also revealed that there are now over 270 million users of its PC game store, the Epic Games Store, up by 40 million users in just one year, and a total of 804 million Epic accounts across all platforms. The company saw its daily active users number peak at 36.1 million in 2023, while monthly active users reached 75 million users, up from 68 million in 2022.

As for the Epic Games Store on PC, it now offers 2900 titles, up over 1,300 from the year before, an increase of 88 percent. And gamers spent $310 million on third-party titles in 2023, down 13 percent year-over-year (YOY). Overall, gamers spent over $950 million in the Epic Games Store in 2023, up 16 percent YOY. Epic’s popular free games program handed out 86 titles last year, when gamers obtained over 585 million free games. Top games included Genshin Impact, FIFA 23, Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, and Dying Light Enhanced Edition.

For 2024, the Epic Games Store will deliver a new download manager, improvements to offline mode, the ability to preload preorders, third-party subscription services support, dynamic bundles, and more. Oh, and that iOS game store in Europe.
