Nintendo revealed that it will now accept preorders for the Switch 2 videogame console in the U.S. on April 24, about two weeks later than originally announced.
“Retail preorders for Nintendo Switch 2 will begin on April 24, 2025,” the Nintendo announcement explains. “At launch, the price for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will remain as announced on April 2 at $449.99, and the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle will remain as announced at $499.99. Pricing for both physical and digital versions of Mario Kart World ($79.99) and Donkey Kong Bananza ($69.99) will also remain unchanged at launch.”
On April 2, Nintendo announced that Switch 2 would launch June 5, 2025 at a cost of $449.99; at the time, preorders were to begin on April 9 in the U.S. But two days later, the company delayed preorders after the United States government imposed sweeping new tariffs on its allies and other countries. Nintendo later said that it was “actively assessing” the impact of these tariffs to determine whether it would need to raise Switch 2 prices.
The good news is that most Switch 2 pricing will remain at the same levels Nintendo previously announced. But some Switch 2 accessories will “experience price adjustments”–i.e. price increases–because of the new tariffs. I can’t find the original price list, but Nintendo supplied the following for its retail launch.
