Nintendo Revenues Up 90 Percent YOY as Switch 2 Sales Surpass 10 Million Units

Nintendo reports that it sold over 4.5 million Switch 2 consoles in the third quarter for a total of 10.36 million units so far. Given this success, the company revised its unit sales and revenue expectations for the current fiscal year upward.

This news came as part of the company’s latest quarterly results, in which Nintendo reported that it earned a net income of ¥102.9 billion (about $6.7 million USD) on revenues of ¥527.7 billion (about $34 billion) in the quarter ending September 30, 2025. Net income was up 270 percent year-over-year (YOY), while revenues jumped 90 percent on an obviously favorable YOY comparable.

“Nintendo Switch 2 hardware has seen strong sales since its launch on June 5,” Nintendo explains. “As a result, Nintendo Switch 2 hardware sales reached 10.36 million units … and [OG] Nintendo Switch hardware sales totaled 1.89 million units.”

Nintendo’s fiscal year ends in March 2026, and the firm now expects to sell a total of 19 million Switch 2 consoles in the year. It had previously forecast a total of 15 million units. Nintendo has reportedly asked its manufacturing partners to deliver 25 million Switch 2 consoles by the end of March so it can meet demand.

Software sales also surged, with the company crediting the Switch 2’s backward compatibility with most OG Switch titles. Nintendo sold 20.6 million software units in the quarter, with Mario Kart World hitting 9.57 million copies sold and Donkey Kong Bananza landing at 3.49 million units since its July launch.
