Nintendo Has Sold 155 Million Switch, 17 Million Switch 2 Consoles

As part of its quarterly earnings report, Nintendo revealed that the original Switch has sold over 155 million units, more than any other videogame console it’s ever made. The Switch 2 is also off to a strong start, with 17.37 million units sold through the end of 2025.

Nintendo reported that it earned a net income of $1 billion on revenues of $5.2 billion in the quarter ending December 31, 2025. Those figures represent gains of 24 percent and 86 percent year-over-year (YOY).

Nintendo says that the Switch 2 is its fastest-selling console ever, and it anticipates that it will sell a total of 19 million units when its fiscal year concludes in March. Nintendo sold 7 million Switch units in the holiday quarter alone, and it took the original Switch one year to hit 17+ million units sold.

As for the OG Switch, that’s now Nintendo’s best-selling console of all time with 155.37 million units sold, surpassing the 154 million units sold of the Nintendo DS. Nintendo sold 3.25 million OG Switch consoles in the quarter. As good, Nintendo reported that there are about 129 million annual playing users across all Switch versions, about even with the past two years.

As for software, Nintendo has sold 14 million units of Mario Kart World, 8.41 million units of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and 4.25 million units of Donkey Kong Bonanza since the Switch 2 launched in mid-2025. Overall, Nintendo has sold over 38 million games for the Switch 2 and over 1.5 billion games for the OG Switch.
