Intel Announces Arc G-Series Processors for Gaming Handhelds

Intel today announced a new family of Arc G-series processors aimed at Windows 11 gaming handhelds. The first two are the Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme.

“Intel Arc G-Series represents years of focused innovation and a deep commitment to gaming,” Intel vice president Dan Rogers says. “It delivers uncompromising PC performance in the palm of your hand, combined with the console-like accessibility and immediacy gamers expect. With cutting-edge graphics technologies like XeSS 3 and breakthrough efficiency for longer unplugged play, Intel Arc G-Series proves that while others make tradeoffs, gamers don’t have to.”

The Intel Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme are, of course, x86 designs, and they’re based on the architecture used by the Core Ultra Series 3 “Panther Lake” processors for premium laptops. Each features two performance cores (P-cores), 8 efficient cores (E-cores), and four low-power efficient cores (LP E-cores), and each is optimized for sustained performance within the power limits of gaming handhelds. And each provides XeSS Super Resolution, Multi-Frame Generation, and Low Latency capabilities.

What separates the Arc G3 from the G3 Extreme is the GPU: Where the Arc G3 comes with an integrated Intel Arc B370 GPU with 10 Xe cores, the G3 Extreme delivers a more powerful Intel Arc B390 GPU with 12 Xe cores. Each Arc G-series processor supports up to 96 GB of LP5/X 8533 RAM and provides Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt 4 with Thunder Share for high-speed docking, and Dual Bluetooth Core 6.0 for more responsive controllers and accessories.

Acer was the first to announce an Arc G3-based gaming handheld, but Intel says you can expect more announcements from hardware makers next week during Computex. Arc G-series gaming handhelds will appear in the market starting in June.

You can learn more about the Arc G3 and G3 Extreme on the Intel website.
