October Xbox Update is Now Available

Microsoft announced today that the October Xbox Update is now available on Xbox One with another UI refresh and more.

“The October Xbox update rolls out this week, bringing a set of exciting changes to Xbox One consoles now, as well as Xbox Series X|S at launch on November 10,” Microsoft’s Jonathan Hildebrandt writes in the announcement post. “Fans will immediately notice a brand-new look and feel, making their consoles feel fresh and more approachable. Everyone can now customize their profiles with a variety of themes from Xbox and Xbox Game Studios. First-time gamers will have an easier time getting started, thanks to some thoughtful improvements around Xbox Home and the Guide. And, we’ve added support for four new languages across the Xbox experience.”

Here’s a rundown of the major new features and changes.

User interface improvements. The new Xbox UX is here with visual and efficiency improvements to Home, Guide, My Games & Apps, and even Settings. “The new design includes changes to our tile shape, fonts, and focus indicator across the experience,” Hildebrandt notes. “The overall layout of most of the pages will not be drastically different, ensuring the new UI remains familiar and easy to navigate.”

Profile themes. Now, Xbox users have another way to express themselves via a new Custom Profiles feature that provides several themes, with more coming over time. Three of the latest themes celebrate the upcoming launch of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

Support for Four New Languages. The October Xbox Update also includes support for four new languages: Hungarian, Greek, Slovak, and Czech.

There’s more, but you can check out the original blog post for a few other minor changes.

I haven't noticed the promised performance improvements listed in the "what's new" section of this update 🙁 Am I missing it? To be blunt that's what I was looking forward to the most. Even on my One X the interface lags all the time.
