It’s Official: Halo Infinite to Launch on December 8

The rumors are true: Microsoft will launch Halo Infinite on December 8 on Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. That means it will ship 13 months later than originally promised, but just in time for Halo’s 20th anniversary.

To celebrate the launch, Microsoft is announcing new hardware, including a limited edition Halo Infinite version of the Xbox Series X console.

“The Xbox Series X – Halo Infinite Limited Edition Bundle and the Halo Infinite Limited Edition Elite Series 2 [controller are] launching on November 15 2021 in celebration of Halo’s 20th anniversary,” Microsoft’s Bree Adams writes. “These two devices will be joined by additional hardware from our partners at Seagate and Razer to help us celebrate 20 years of this iconic franchise in the lead up to the launch of Halo Infinite on December 8, 2021.”

Here’s what’s coming this holiday season:

Xbox Series X – Halo Infinite Limited Edition Bundle. Coming November 15 for $550, the Halo Infinite Limited Edition Xbox Series X features a Halo-influenced console and controller design and a downloadable copy of Halo Infinite.

Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Halo Infinite Limited Edition. Coming November 15 for $200, this new Elite controller is designed to look like Master Chief’s armor.

Halo Infinite Edition Razer Kaira Pro for Xbox. There’s no pricing or availability info yet, but this coming headset features 50 mm Razer TriForce titanium drivers.

Halo Infinite Special Edition Seagate Game Drive for Xbox. Available in October, this 2 TB or 5 TB external hard drive is also styled to look like Master Chief’s armor. It’s USB 3-based, so you can only store older (Xbox One or older) games on it. The drive costs $100 or $160 based on the storage.

If only a Series X were available in stores…or purchase anywhere without camping out ahead of time…

If you’re a game pass subscriber, looks like you can queue this up to your console now. I was able to install from the store and it said it will automatically download when it’s available. If it’s similar to other recent launches, it will actually start downloading a couple days ahead of the launch so you’re ready to go on launch day. Xbox -> Store -> Halo Infinite then click the "Manage included with game pass" button and then install
