In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Xbox, Microsoft is making the Halo Infinite multiplayer beta available to everyone today. For free.

“343 Industries launched the free-to-play Halo Infinite Multiplayer Beta and Season 1 three weeks early, available starting now for all players on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC,” Microsoft’s Will Tuttle writes in the announcement post. “It will also be available via Xbox Cloud Gaming starting later today. The Halo Infinite multiplayer beta arrives early with all of the day one maps, modes, Battle Pass, and customizations available. And though Season 1 is also starting early, it will continue through May 2022 as previously scheduled to help ensure that Season 2 is as good as possible. From Season 2 on, gaming seasons will last three months.

Microsoft notes that all of your Halo Infinite multiplayer progress, cosmetics, unlocks, and stats will all carry over when Halo Infinite officially launches on December 8.

Sadly you cant turn off cross play in the game. You to go 5-6 layers deep in the Xbox settings to disable that. Until they take that away. The game is just meh. Its classic Halo but at this point its just so basic when it comes to a MP shooter.

Yes at the console level, killing it for all games. It’s 5-6 steps deep in the privacy settings. It works but not ideal as there are some games that are cross play against other consoles (PS) and I want that. I just DO NOT want to play with PC players. Metric ton of game cheating going on there and I want none of it. There are already aimbots out for this game on day one that you can buy and use on the PC version of this game. Same for BF 2042 and Vangaurd.

Most games have an in game setting, where you can do it in the game and it only impacts that game. COD has this. BF 2042 has it as well (its currently greyed out/bug).

Your argument has ONE teeny tiny problem! Disabling crossplay is literally useless and will only worsen your experience!! The Xbox console version supports KEYBOARD AND MOUSE! So if your intension was to limit getting matched to kb/mouse players, turning off cross play is pointless. You are just limiting the total player base, potentially increasing match time!

Well I turned it off and had zero issues getting into games. I would wager that Halo MP is 98% Xbox anyhow.

Donte expands on the issue by talking about aimbots in a follow up post
