Microsoft is planning to bring Discord Voice Chat to Xbox consoles. The integration is available starting today for select testers in the Xbox Insider Program, and it will let gamers use Discord instead of Xbox Party Chat to talk with friends while playing.

“While you are playing on your console, you will be able to see who is in the call and speaking. You’ll also be able to adjust the sound, and switch between Discord Voice and Xbox game chat,” the Xbox team explained today.

It’s already possible for Xbox gamers to link their Xbox account to their Discord account and display their Xbox gamertag and the game they’re currently playing on Discord. However, if you’ve previously linked your Discord account to your Xbox, you’ll have to link it again to enjoy this new integration with Discord voice chat.

For Xbox Insiders, the option to try Discord voice chat on Xbox will appear on the Parties & chat tab of the Xbox guide. On mobile, the Xbox will also add the ability to connect the Discord Voice chat to an Xbox console.

Bringing Discord voice chat to Xbox consoles has been a top requested feature, so this is really good news for Xbox gamers. Despite Microsoft trying and failing to acquire Discord last year, it’s good to see that both companies are still willing to work together.
