Microsoft announced today that gamers have already created over one million custom maps using the Halo Infinite: Forge Beta. In fact, it surpassed the milestone over two months ago.
“In November, the Winter Update brought the Forge Beta, a powerful fan-favorite toolset that Spartans have used to unleash their creativity since its inception in Halo 3,” Forge lead designer Michael Schorr writes in the announcement post. “We’re happy to announce that, as of January 2, more than 1 million creations have been forged!”
After the initial release of the Forge Beta in November, Microsoft added a Custom Game Browser in December, letting players host and connect to custom matches that include Forge-created maps. Over 8.5 million custom matches had been played as of January 2.
Microsoft has also added four community-created Forge maps—Absolution, Perilous, Salvation, and Starboard—in its Community Collection playlist, noting that it’s been the most popular Halo Infinite playlist since the game launched. It will continue to update this playlist with more community content going forward.
“The Halo community continues to blow us away with the breadth of its imagination and innovation, and we have many more plans for Forge, from a Mini Game mode to new map budget categories to help support your creativity,” Schorr adds. “We’re so excited to see what’s created next in Forge, and can’t wait to jump into Season 3: Echoes Within with you on March 7.”
