PC Game Pass, Game Pass Ultimate Get More In-Game Benefits

New Game Pass in-game benefits

In-game benefits are among the myriad of perks that Microsoft provides to PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. Today, the software giant announced that it is bringing more in-game benefits for free-to-play games to the subscriptions.

“Starting this week, we’re rolling out even more value to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members with in-game benefits for free-to-play games,” Xbox product marketing manager Steve Masline writes. “Members will get items like cosmetics, characters, in-game currency, and more for additional games, including Heroes of the Storm, Naraka: Bladepoint, and The Finals. Plus, we’re adding even more benefits starting in April 2025, like Call of Duty: Warzone and Enlisted. With seasonal content drops, members always have new benefits to look forward to.”

While the high-level features of each Game Pass subscription are well-understood, it’s difficult to find a full list of the features each offers. In-game benefits falls is a good example: It’s one of several vague perks that Microsoft offers to PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate, but the “number and content of Perks vary by region, platform, and over time, and must be redeemed by stated timeframe,” and even Microsoft’s page for Game Pass Ultimate Perks is little help. It notes that “free Perks including in-game content, consumables, and partner offers,” and while it lists a few partners, it doesn’t link to them so you can learn more. You need to use the Xbox app on Windows or mobile, or the Game Pass section of the Xbox Dashboard, to find out more.

From what I can see, it’s a pretty short list. But it’s about to get longer. Microsoft is expanding the number of in-game benefits it offers to subscribers, and it seems like it will now be more regular in adding these perks.

In addition to existing in-game benefits for Genshin Impact (Console), League of Legends (PC), Legends of Runeterra (PC), Overwatch 2 (Console and PC), Teamfight Tactics (PC), and Valorant (Console and PC), Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members can now access new in-game benefits for Heroes of the Storm (PC), Naraka: Bladepoint (Cloud, Console, and PC), Smite 2 (Console and PC), and The Finals (Xbox Series X|S and PC). And then it will add more in April, including Asphalt Legends Unite, Call of Duty: Warzone, Enlisted, and War Thunder.

In-game benefits vary by game, of course. And Microsoft is at least making it easier to find these benefits, too: There’s a new “More Benefits” page in the Game Pass view in the Xbox app. And games with benefits will now display those clearly on their in-store landing pages.
