Xbox December Update Arrives With Mobile and Audio Improvements

The Xbox December Update is here with improvements to the Xbox mobile app and the Xbox Wireless Headset.

“To close out 2025, we have some new feature updates coming your way that continue our mission to elevate your Xbox gaming experience,” Xbox senior product marketing manager Dean Shimabukuro writes. “A dedicated store tab has been added to the Xbox mobile app so you can quickly find new games to play. Additionally, a new update to the Xbox Wireless Headset brings Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio support, extending your headset’s battery life while improving your overall audio quality.”

Here’s what’s new.

Xbox mobile app improvements. The Xbox app on iPhone, iPad, and Android now has a dedicated Store tab so you can more quickly find and buy the games, add-ons, or Game Pass subscription you want without having to worry about the Apple Tax (or Google equivalent).

Xbox Wireless Headset audio improvements. This major update to the Xbox Wireless Headset adds Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio support for lower latency, better battery life, super wideband stereo voice, and broadcast audio capabilities. These features require a firmware update and, in some cases, a Windows 11 PC.

New Fallout tie-ins. These aren’t really part of the December update, but with the Fallout TV series returning to Amazon Prime in season 2 this week, there are new Fallout-themed Xbox Wireless Controllers, dynamic backgrounds, and other goodies.
