Microsoft to Release ‘Project Scorpio’ Edition of Xbox One X

This weekend, Microsoft is headed to GamesCom where they will announce a few more detail about the Xbox One X console. The company will say when the console will be available for pre-order and it looks like they may have limited edition available for early adopters.

Posted up on Twitter by @evleaks, he has uncovered the console and the box of a Project Scorpio edition of the Xbox One X. An insider also sent me a close-up of the controller and this is all likely to be branded under the “for the gamers” series of hardware.

When launching a new console, Microsoft likes to brand these first edition devices. They did something similar with the release of the Xbox One with the Xbox One Day One Edition and this appears to be following that path.

I don’t expect there to be much else different with this device other than the simple branding. The company may give it more storage to reward early adopters but they won’t boost the CPU speed or add more RAM.

Microsoft will be holding a press conference on Sunday and I am hopeful that they will be announcing more titles that will be part of the launch event for the console. The heavily anticpated game, Crackdown 3, has been delayed yet again and will not arrive until 2018 at the earliest.

I bought the 'Day One' edition of the XBox One... I'm going to pass on this one and let others beta test it. My original is still hanging in there, but it's HDMI pass through port is getting flaky.

Will either get a One X when it dies or plop a 4K Apple TV in it's place and forget about it. Since they broke DLNA 'Cast To Device' in Creator's Update in Edge and still haven't fixed it in Insider builds, I really don't have a 'need' for Microsoft in the living room any more.

Hope this isn't like Lumia 950, which was "for the fans."

They have a console already "for the players". It's called the PS4.

Microsoft is releasing a gaming console "for the gamers"?

Shit, I was hoping to put these babies in my datacenter and run microservices on them!

I'm hoping for a 2TB Launch Edition like they did with the One S. Those 4K assists will take up more space, so more internal storage would be nice. Having a user upgradable HD would be even better, but that doesn't seem to be a Microsoft thing.
