Call of Duty: WWII Multiplayer Private Beta Arrives Tomorrow on Xbox One

Tomorrow is the big day: Xbox One gamblers who pre-ordered Call of Duty: WWII will be able to access the multiplayer private beta for the first time.

“Starting this Friday, September 1 at 10 a.m. PDT you can get your boots on the ground and start playing Call of Duty: WWII during the game’s private multiplayer beta, lasting through to Monday, September 4 at 10 a.m. PDT,” Microsoft’s Mike Nelson writes. “During the private beta you’ll have a chance to play through a variety of different maps representing the locations of iconic battles throughout Europe, like the frigid snow-covered Ardennes Forest, the steep cliffs of Gibraltar, and Pointe du Hoc’s fortified network of German bunkers.” readers probably know that this is the second go-round for the Call of Duty: WWIImultiplayer private beta: It was available last weekend on the PlayStation 4, thanks to Activision’s evil Call of Duty pact with Sony. So I spent a good deal of time playing the beta last weekend on the PS4, and while it looks like a solid effort, I’m a bit concerned about the longevity of the retro gameplay.

That said, it’s still Call of Duty. And Activision has promised some improvements for this second weekend of testing. And while new levels aren’t likely to happen, we will get our first chance to try Call of Duty: WWII‘s new war mode, which “encourages teamplay to defeat the enemy through assault and defend missions across key objectives.”

And as a bonus, those who participate in the private beta will receive the Private Beta Combat Pack when the game launches on November 3. This includes a specially-themed helmet, calling card, and emblem.

But the most important thing to know is how to access the private beta.

If you purchased Call of Duty: WWII electronically like a normal person, you can download the game right now from the Xbox Store so you’ll be able to play immediately when the game becomes available on September 1 at 1 p.m. EDT.

If you pre-ordered Call of Duty: WWII on disc from a retailer like a crazy person, you will apparently get some kind of early-access code.

See you in Normandy.
