Mouse and Keyboard Support Coming to Xbox One

Yes, you have heard this before. Mouse and keyboard support is coming to the Xbox One, and this time, it’s actually here.

Microsoft just announced that it will start rolling out support for mouse and keyboard on the Xbox One to select Xbox Insiders in the coming weeks. The update to the Xbox One will allow users to use most wired or wireless USB keyboards and mice to play games on their Xbox One. Microsoft is, however, partnering with Razer to ensure the “best possible mouse and keyboard experience” on the Xbox One.

There’s a massive catch, though: mouse and keyboard support won’t work for all titles. Instead, it’s something developers will have to manually support on their games. This means if the developers of your favorite don’t update their game to include mouse and keyboard support, you’ll be out of luck. Microsoft says Warframe will be one of the first titles to support this feature in the coming weeks, though there is no word on when other big games like Fortnite, PUBG, etc. will receive support for mouse and keyboard.

Can you connect multiple mice & keyboards?

My kids love playing Minecraft on the xbox. I *think* I heard it already support mouse & keyboard but haven't tried it. I'd rather not bother, for that particular use case, unless multiple were supported, simply because I'd rather not hear the fight over who gets what input device :)

Reminds me of Settlers & Settlers II on the PC – the ability to connect a second mouse to your PC and use it in the game for split-screen play was amazing at the time

Third party keyboard support works well before any update. Mouse/Trackpad support kind of worked in Edge. Glad they are adding full support.

I have a basic wireless USB media keyboard that had a small trackpad that would be even better with this support.

Pity they're teaming with Razer. Their products are just plain bad.

MS make their own mice and keyboards, shame they aren't doing their own xbox range.

This may be the only thing that keeps my gaming PC centric.

Just have to mention that PS4 has had keyoard/mouse support for awhile now. Glad to see Xbox finally adding it too. It's a nice option to have.

Yes, we've heard this all before. I didn't believe it then, and I don't believe it now. And this is the number one reason why we do zero gaming on our Xbox…inability to use keyboard & mouse for gaming. I stick to PC gaming.

It would be funny (to me, at least) if the support is for Xbox 1.0, not One.
