Microsoft Drops Xbox One Starting Price to Just $299 for the Holidays

Emboldened by (near) record Xbox One sales over the Black Friday long weekend, Microsoft has lowered the price of all Xbox One models by $50 through December 26. That means you can get the core Xbox One console for just $299 now.

You may recall that Microsoft offered the same deal over the Black Friday weekend, with all Xbox One consoles and bundles be offered at $50 off. Well, it’s on again, baby.

“Thanks to the support of our fans, Xbox One saw record-setting U.S. sales and record global engagement during the week of Black Friday,” Microsoft’s Larry Hryb notes in a new post to the Xbox Wire blog. “Due to this amazing response from gamers, we’re bringing the discounts back for a limited time: starting today, Dec. 9 through Saturday, Dec. 26 in the U.S., all Xbox One console bundles will be available for $50 off, starting at $299.”

So you know the drill. U.S.-only. Limited time only. So get buying.

To be clear, the savings are available on just about any Xbox One,including the standalone 500 GB console and all bundles. This meansthe Xbox One Limited Edition Halo 5: Guardians Bundle, the Xbox One Elite Bundle and the Xbox One 1TB Holiday Bundle, which includes Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Rare Replay and a full-game download of Ori and the Blind Forest. “With more bundles available than ever before, there’s something for every gamer this holiday,” Hryb notes. “Some of these bundles are nearly sold out, so make sure to take advantage of the savings while supplies last.”

But wait, there’s more.

Starting on December 22, and running through January 7, 2016, Xbox gamers can take advantage of Microsoft’s Countdown, “the biggest digital game sale of the year for the Xbox Store.” There will be over 200 deals, Microsoft says, and I believe this is for both Xbox One and Xbox 360. It will include digital games, and there will be weekly and daily deals as we count down to the New Year (and beyond, for the first time ever).
