Microsoft Starts Shipping First Batch of Xbox Design Lab Custom Controllers

Great news for those who were among the first to customize their own Xbox Wireless Controller using the new Xbox Design Lab: Your controllers are on the way!

“We are happy to announce that the first batch of orders have shipped today!” Microsoft’s Navin Kumar writes in a new post to the Xbox Wire blog. “Fans who already placed their orders can expect to receive their personalized controllers in early September. For all other orders, fans can expect to receive their controllers in just 14 business days.”

Microsoft announced the Xbox Design Labs custom controllers during E3, alongside the Xbox One S.

“To give our players even more choice and personalization with their Xbox experience, we are proud to introduce Xbox Design Lab, the first online customization program we’ve ever launched that offers more than 8 million different color combinations to choose from, so you can make the new Xbox Wireless Controller your own,” Microsoft senior product marketing manager Navin Kumar explained at the time. “With Xbox Design Lab, every controller is an official Xbox Wireless Controller and it’s made to order.”

At the time, Microsoft said that customized controllers wouldn’t ship until September, and I actually held off ordering one until July 29 for some reason, so I’m not sure how long that will take. This is what mine will look like:

Anyway, I’m curious to see it. Though I will always use my Xbox Elite Controller. 🙂 Of course.
