Microsoft Announces Colorful New Xbox One S Battlefield 1 Bundles

Today, Microsoft announced a trio of special Xbox One S Battlefield 1 bundles that combine the firm’s latest console with the hit first person shooter. But this time, there’s a twist: Two of the bundles include specially colored Xbox One S consoles.

This is a first.

In the past, Microsoft has offered bundles that offer a highly-customized version of an Xbox console that have appealed more to children than the style-conscious. The recently-announced Xbox One S Gears of War 4 Limited Edition Bundle is a great example, with its terrible, faux-gouged—sorry, “gritty, battle-weathered”—red design. Yuck.

But as I’ve been writing recently, the Xbox Design Lab customized Xbox Wireless Controllers make me believe we’ll soon see other Xbox One S console colors, and not just stark white. Black is the obvious choice, but why not just let consumers design their own?

Until then, we need to make do with the occasional custom console design. And two of today’s newly-announced Battlefield 1 bundles do indeed offer custom colors: Storm gray and military green. Interesting.

Here are the bundles:

Xbox One S Battlefield 1 Bundle (500 GB). This $300 package includes a standard white Xbox One S console (500 GB) and controller, a full-game download of Battlefield 1 Standard Edition, and one month of EA Access. It will ship in Europe on October 13 and the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand on October 21.

Xbox One S Battlefield 1 Storm Grey Special Edition Bundle (500 GB). Also $300, this special edition version of the bundle includes the same features as the previous version, but the console and controller are a special storm gray color. This version of the bundle will be available starting November 1 at Microsoft Stores and Wal-Mart only.

Xbox One S Battlefield 1 Special Edition Bundle (1TB). This $350 bundle includes a special military green console (with 1 TB of storage) and controller, a full-game download of Battlefield 1 Early Enlister Deluxe Edition, the Hellfighter Pack, Red Baron Pack, and Lawrence of Arabia Pack, a new visual appearance of the Behemoths, five Battlepacks and one month of EA Access. It will ship in Europe on October 13 and in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand on October 18.

Nice. Now let’s get some more colors out there, eh Microsoft?
