Microsoft is Raising Xbox Console Prices Again, But Only in the U.S.

For the second time this year, Microsoft is raising the price of its Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S videogame consoles. But this time, the new pricing is only for the United States.

“Beginning on October 3, we will update the recommended retailer pricing for Series S and Series X consoles in the United States due to changes in the macroeconomic environment,” the Xbox Support website explains. “We understand that these changes are challenging, and they were made with careful consideration. Looking ahead, we continue to focus on offering more ways to play more games across any screen and providing value for Xbox players.”

Back in May, Microsoft raised the price of the Xbox Series S by $80 per model and the price of the Xbox Series X by $100 to $129 depending on the model. It also raised the prices of controllers and headsets. And these increases were worldwide.

This time around, the Xbox Series S is going up by $20 per model and the Xbox Series X is going up by $50 to $70 per model. But these hikes are U.S. only and the price of peripherals is unchanged.

If you had purchased a base model Xbox Series S with 512 GB of storage in early 2025 in the U.S., it would have cost $299. But that price jumped to $379 in May and is now $399. The most expensive Xbox Series X, with 2 TB in Galaxy Black, was $599 in early 2025, but its price jumped to $729 in May and is now $799.

The new pricing for the remaining Xbox consoles is:

  • Xbox Series S (1 TB): $449.99, up from $429.99 in May and from $349 before that
  • Xbox Series X Digital — $599.99, up from $549.99 in May and from $449 before that
  • Xbox Series X — $649.99, up from $599.99 in May and from $499 before that
