Android Go Gets New Camera App As It Reaches 100 Million Active Devices

Google’s stripped-down version of Android for low-end devices, Android Go, has hit a major milestone. The company announced this week that there are more than 100 million active Android Go devices all around the world.

Android Go first launched two years ago, and a number of Google’s partners have released a wide range of different Android Go devices over the last 2 years. Along with hitting 100 million active devices, Android Go is also getting a new camera app.

Google is introducing a new app called Camera Go that introduces a much simpler interface for taking features. The clutter-free experience works well for Android Go because it can also track how much photo and video storage you have left, and helps you clear up space whenever needed. The app also includes features like Portrait Mode, which is pretty impressive considering there are a lot of Android Go devices that cost less than $100.

Google said Camera Go will first launch on the new Nokia 1.3 and be available to more Android Go devices later.
