Google Adds Promotion Badges, More Shopping Features to Search Results

Google is adding promotion badges and more shopping features just in time for the holiday season. In the coming weeks, Google users will start seeing new promotion badges in search results to help them identify specific promotions that may require a specific coupon.

“Our new promotion badge will show up in Search on items running a promotion (like “15% off with coupon code HOLIDAYS”),” the company explained. After clicking on a promotion in search results, users will also be able to copy coupons with just one click.

A mobile search for “shop women’s puffer jackets” scrolls down to a section labeled “deals” showing products with discounted prices from various merchants.

On mobile, Google will also let users compare deals for a specific product side by side on mobile. The search engine is also making its price insights feature available from search results, providing information on low and typical prices for a specific product based on online stores across the past 3 months.

If Google still has a dedicated Shopping tab for power users, all these new shopping features will be available right from search results. With Black Friday being right around the corner, this is a really timely update.
