Google announced today that it will hold its next I/O developer event on May 14, 2024, in keeping with past shows. It will be a single day event, mostly held online.
“Google I/O is arriving this year on May 14th, and you’re invited to join us online!” Google vice president Jeanine Banks writes in the announcement post. “I/O offers something for everyone, whether you are developing a new application, modernizing an existing one, or transforming it into a business.”
Google typically announces Pixel hardware at I/O, so it’s likely that we’ll learn more about the Pixel 8a at the event. But Google I/O 2024 will be heavily AI-based, of course.
“The Gemini era unlocks new possibilities for developers to build creative and productive AI-enabled applications,” Banks adds. “I/O is where you’ll hear how you can get from idea to production AI applications faster. We’re excited to share what’s new for mobile, web, and multiplatform development, and how to scale your applications in the cloud. You will be able to dive deeper into topics that interest you with over 100 sessions, workshops, codelabs, and demos.”
Google will reveal more details about the sessions and other content at I/O 2024 as we get closer to the show. But you can register now.
The live keynote begins May 14 at 10 am PT/1 pm ET.
