Google Pixel Tag Launches on November 11 for $29

Google is planning to launch the Pixel Tag, its own AirTag-like tracker, later this year on November 11. The oval-shaped tracker will be priced at $29, with Google also offering a four-pack at $99.

Google’s Pixel Tag is made of durable stainless steel and is rated IP67 for splash, water, and dust resistance. The device includes a built-in speaker and a button to ring users’ Android phones. The Pixel Tag supports Bluetooth and Ultra Wideband connectivity for precision finding, though there’s no NFC compatibility.

Just like Apple’s AirTags, the Pixel Tag is designed to be attached to items you need to keep track of, such as keychains and bags. It’s also powered by user-replaceable CR2032 batteries, which should last for approximately a year.

Pixel Tags can be configured with phones running Android 9 or higher, and they can be shared with up to 10 people. Android users will be able to keep track of Pixel Tags in the Find Hub app and ring them if they’re within Bluetooth range. Tracking also works on Pixel smartwatches as well as the web version of the Find Hub app.

Android users will be able to set up Left Behind alerts to avoid leaving their items with an attached Pixel Tag behind. When the trackers are out of range, the Find Hub app will also leverage the crowdsourced network of over one billion Android devices to locate the devices.

Lastly, Android phones will automatically warn users when they detect that unknown tags are travelling with them. In that case, Google will also show instructions for ringing them and finding where they’re located.
