Samsung Announces New Galaxy Event for October

Not too long ago, Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 9. The company also announced a bunch of other things, including a new Bixby-powered smart speaker.

And now, it’s holding another event next month. The phone maker today announced its new October 11 Galaxy event. The invite doesn’t reveal anything other than “4x fun” which is obviously a teaser for a new Galaxy product.

It’s not clear exactly what Samsung is going to announce, but the company said “Samsung’s newest Galaxy device is bringing more ways to express yourself than ever before. Capture the fun with Samsung as the company celebrates the launch of the new device with A Galaxy Event on October 11, 2018,” in a blog post.

Samsung could be teasing a new smart camera, or a phone with more than 2 cameras, or a completely new type of device here. It’s all quite secretive right now. Do keep in mind that Samsung’s Galaxy event is just 2 days after Google’s Pixel hardware event too, so it’s going to be a busy week.

I wish Samsung would just announce all their products in the fall like everyone else. So you could directly compare all the flagship and almost flagship products

I wonder if this is going to be the rumored flexible screen phone. That would be awesome.

Samsung can always be counted on for making awesome hardware (Sans the Note 7) and this is quite a surprise and will be interesting. Seems too soon for a phone but it would be interesting if they mix things up a little, especially in time for the holiday season.

As reported by CNBC and the Korea Herald a few days ago, it is expected that Samsung will reveal some information regarding the prototype product known as 'Winner', with the formal name of Galaxy F.

Clearly 'F' stands for 'foldable', and there is some chance of the first foldable smartphone débuting at this event in October.

Hey Panos Panay, how's the development of the Surface Foldable™ / Surface Go Pro getting along ? Have you ironed out the problems with Windows Core OS / Andromeda yet ? Well you had better get your skates on, for the Samsung Galaxy F is expected to be showcased and ready by either CES 2019 (early Jan) or MWC 2019 (late Feb).

Addendum:

Slight error. The Galaxy F may make its début at the Samsung Developer Conference, held in November, and not in October as I suggested above.

The October event will probably be dedicated to the notch-free Note 9.
