Microsoft’s Surface devices are getting some new firmware updates this month to help improve battery life. The company started rolling out updates for the Surface Laptop 2 and the original Surface Laptop, as well as the Surface Pro 6, Surface Pro 5, and Surface Pro 4 on October 10.
It’s only now releasing the changelog for the updates, revealing exactly what’s changed (via MSPU).

Spoiler alert: there isn’t a lot to talk about. Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 2 and Surface Laptop, for example, got an update for the Surface System Aggregator which “helps improve” battery life. Surface Pro 6 and Surface Pro 5 got a similar update for the Surface System Aggregator which also promises the same. Surface Pro 4, on the other hand, got a new update for the Surface Embedded Controller that also promises to help improve battery life. None of the changelogs explain exactly what’s improved, or whether the improvements are anything significant, though.
