
Earlier this week, Microsoft released new firmware updates for the Surface Pro X and the Surface Laptop 3. The company today released the changelogs for all the updates, and there’s actually a lot of improvements.
For Surface Laptop 3 users, there’s actually two different sets of updates — one for those with AMD processors, and one for those with Intel processors. But in general, the improvements are mostly related to audio and speech performance.

Here’s the changelog for the Surface Laptop running Intel:
- Intel iCLS Client – Software components (1.57.263.0) improves integration between system services.
- Realtek High Definition Audio – Sound, video, and game controller (6.0.8812.1) improves Cortana speech experience.
- Realtek Device Extension (6.1.0.1) improves integration between system services.
- Realtek Hardware Support Application – Software components (11.0.6000.92) improves audio performance.
- Surface Integration – System devices (19.60.139.0) improves integration between system services.
- Surface Keyboard – Firmware (14.17.139.0) improves system stability.
- Surface ME – Firmware (13.0.1312.4) improves stability with USB-C scenarios.
- Surface System Aggregator – Firmware (14.42.139.0) improves driver installation servicing.
- Surface UEFI – Firmware (6.22.140.0) improves system stability.
And here’s the changelog for the ones running AMD:
- AMD Radeon Vega 9 Graphics/Vega 11 Graphics – Display adapters (26.20.12027.5004) improves graphics performance and improves system bugcheck performance.
- AMD GPIO Controller – System devices (2.2.0.124) improves integration between system services.
- Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4 Bluetooth – Bluetooth (10.0.0.926) improves system stability.
- Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A Wireless Network Adapter – Network adapters (12.0.0.926) improves system stability.
- Realtek High Definition Audio – Sound, video and game controller (6.0.8812.1) improves Cortana speech experience.
- Realtek Device Extension (6.1.0.1) improves integration between system services.

On the Surface Pro X, the latest firmware update brings a number of updates across the board. Microsoft’s made improvements to improve the SurfaceSlim Pen’s battery life and charging performance, and it also enables one-click Bluetooth swift-pairing for supported devices. Here’s the changelog:
- Microsoft SQ1 Adreno 685 GPU – Display Adapters (26.18.830.0) resolves issues connecting to an external monitor via USB-C.
- Qualcomm USBC UCSI Participant – System devices (1.25.139.0) resolves issues connecting to an external monitor via USB-C.
- Qualcomm Bluetooth UART Transport Driver – Bluetooth (1.0.820.0) enables one-click Bluetooth swift-pairing.
- Surface 0953 Fw Update – Firmware (2.54.139.0) improves Pen charging performance.
- Surface Pro X Integration – System devices (20.67.139.0) optimizes storage dump space utilization.
- Surface Pen Cfu Over BleLc Extn Package (1.65.137.0) improves Slim Pen battery life by resolving the charging issue.
- Surface Pro X Bluetooth UART Transport Driver NVM Extension (7500.1.25.1) enables one-click Bluetooth swift-pairing.
- Surface Pro X Qualcomm All-Ways Aware(TM) Hub – Sensors (2865.5.0.0) improves system stability resuming from hibernate.
- Qualcomm Wi-Fi B/G/N/AC (2×2) Svc – Network adapters (1.0.770.0) improves Wi-Fi speed.
- Surface System Aggregator – Firmware (14.58.139.0) improves single external monitor performance.
Microsoft actually released these updates on November 22nd, so it’s likely your device is already running the latest updates — but just to be sure, you can always check for updates via Windows Update.
