Asus Shows its Zenbook 17 Fold OLED PC at IFA 2022

As the IFA annual trade show is coming back to Berlin this week, Asus announced today that its Zenbook 17 Fold OLED PC will soon be available for pre-order. The impressive-looking Windows 11 PC uses a 17.3-inch foldable display connected by an almost invisible 180-degree hinge.

Foldable phones have become quite popular in recent years thanks to Samsung, Motorola, Huawei, and Microsoft. If PCs with foldable screens are still a rarity, Asus’ Zenbook 17 Fold OLED has good enough specs to ensure that it won’t just be considered as a curiosity. And it’s also built to last, according to the company.

“ASUS torture-tested the hinge ─ the area that folds ─ by putting the device through a 30,000-cycle open-and-close session, and we’re happy to say it rose to the task. This device is also certified with a US Military-Grade Durability badge,” the company said in the press release.

The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED comes with a full-size Bluetooth keyboard with a built-in trackpad when users want to enjoy the full 17.3-inch 2.5K touchscreen in desktop mode (the device has a built-in kickstand). Users can also use the device in laptop mode, and one of the two 12.5-inch 1920×1280 displays will show the Windows 11 touch keyboard at the bottom of the screen.

“Perhaps the most unique way to use the device is in Reader Mode. Folding the device just slightly and holding the device horizontally gives you a book-reading-like experience,” Asus explained.

Under the hood, the Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED comes with a 12th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU, Intel Iris Xe graphics, 16 GB of DDR5 RAM, and 1TB of SSD storage. The device also comes with 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports, an audio jack, and a 75W battery that should last up to 9.5 hours in Laptop mode.

The ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED will be released later this fall and it will be priced at $3,499. You can already sign up on this page to get updates about its availability.
