Lenovo Announces New Consumer PCs Ahead of CES

In a preview of CES 2023, Lenovo today announced several new IdeaPad, IdeaCenter, and Lenovo-branded PCs for consumers that will ship early next year.

“As consumers continue to seek out the most effective ways of working and studying in a hybrid world where versatility and convenience are paramount, Lenovo’s IdeaPad products continue to provide reliability and performance at incredible value,” Lenovo vice president Jun OuYang says. “This latest generation of products come with a range of striking new features and enhancements that significantly improve the user experience while still maintaining its reputation as an affordable product.”

Based on a recent briefing, we can expect performance from a mix of Intel Core (presumably 13th-Gen) and AMD Ryzen processors, a variety of form factors, and a nice collection of peripherals to round out the hybrid work and on-the-go workstyles that these devices target.

Here’s what’s coming.

IdeaPad Pro 5i and IdeaPad Pro 5. These new portable PCs come in 14- and 16-inch 16:10 display sizes, are powered by up to the latest Intel Processor or AMD Ryzen processors, USB4/Thunderbolt 4, an expandable SSD storage slot (on 16-inch only), and up to an NVIDIA GeForce Next-Gen Laptop GPU, and are designed for content creation, light gaming, and productivity. The touchpad is 25 percent bigger this year and the webcam is now Full HD and offers Windows Hello capabilities. The 16-inch versions also offer a new Dynamic Display Switch for swapping between 60 and 120 Hz refresh rates. The IdeaPad Pro 5i (16”, 8) with Intel Core processor will start at $1499.99 and is expected to be available in May 2023. The other versions will not be sold in North America and pricing and availability is TBD.

IdeaPad Slim 5i and IdeaPad Slim 5. These new ultra-thin portable PCs come in both 14-inch (Full HD OLED) and 16-inch (up to 2.5K resolution) displays, updated Full HD webcams, a larger touchpad, up to the latest Intel Core and AMD Ryzen 7000 processors, and two USB-C ports. They will ship in three trendy new colors—Violet, Cloud Grey, and Abyss Blue. The IdeaPad Slim 5i (16”, 8) with Intel Core processor will start at $749.99w, while the IdeaPad Slim 5 (16”, 8) with AMD Ryzen processor will start at $649.99, Both are expected to be available in May 2023.

IdeaPad Flex 3i Chromebook (12”, 8). This 2-in-1 Chromebook provides a slightly bigger 12-inch and 16:10 display, up to 12 hours of battery life, TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification, an optional backlit keyboard, and a drop-hinge feature that lifts the keyboard 15 degrees for a more ergonomic typing position. It comes with a choice of HD and Full HD webcams, both with a physical shutter, and a dedicated mute key. It’s powered by the latest N-series (Celeron) Intel Processor and has Wi-Fi 6E connectivity. Pricing starts at $349 and it should be available in May.

IdeaCentre Mini (1L, 8). This adorable mini-PC features a built-in power supply unit, is aimed at homes and dorm rooms, and can be used lying flat or sitting vertically with an included metal stand. The chassis can be opened so you can easily access its internals, upgrade components, or perform repairs. It features the latest Intel Core processors, two DDR4 memory slots, SSD storage up to 1 TB, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and lots of ports, including Thunderbolt 4.0/USB-C. The mini PC will start at $649.99 and is expected to be available starting in Q2 2023.

Lenovo Tab M9. This new 9-inch tablet is powered by Android 12, a MediaTek Helio G80 OctaCore processor, and up to 128 GB of storage. It provides Dolby Atmos spatial audio, Wi-Fi 5 connectivity, and up to 13 hours of video playback battery life. It also has TÜV Rheinland eye care certification and features an immersive Reading Mode that simulates the color of real book pages. Prices start at $139.99 and availability is expected in Q2 2023.

Lenovo 500 USB Type-C Universal Dock. This small and stylish USB-C dock supports dual 4K monitors. 40 percent of its external shell is post-consumer recycled content plastic. The Lenovo 500 USB Type-C Universal Dock will start at $249.99 and will start shipping in April 2023.
