Intel Unveils Core Ultra Commercial Portfolio With New vPro Platform

Intel Core Ultra vPro

After Intel joined the “AI PC” revolution with its new Core Ultra mobile CPUs in December, the company just announced some AI PC for enterprise news at Mobile World Congress today. The Intel Core Ultra commercial portfolio and the new Intel vPRO platform are now official, and these chips will be coming to more than 100 laptops, 2-in-1s, and desktop PCs from Intel’s hardware partners.

The fact that Intel is bringing its 14th Gen Core Ultra CPUs to desktops and entry-level workstations for commercial customers is quite notable. Intel’s Core Ultra “Meteor Lake” processors are the company’s first CPUs with a built-in neural processing unit (NPU) for AI workloads.

Intel’s AI PC Acceleration Program already resulted in the launch of over 300 AI-accelerated features, “many of which are purpose-built for commercial collaboration, productivity, content creation and accessibility,” Intel said today. The company teamed up with over 100 ISV partners including Adobe, Zoom, Webex, and XSplit to make sure that these AI-accelerated features work best on PCs with Intel’s Core Ultra CPUs.

Intel’s Core Ultra commercial chips still feature a hybrid architecture with Performance and Efficiency cores, with Intel’s Thread Director and Dynamic Tuning technologies taking care of optimizing CPU usage for the task at hand. Select H-series chips also come with integrated Arc GPUs that deliver 2x the graphics performance as previous generation chips. A new OEM-enabled Intel Arc Pro workstation graphics driver can also deliver increased performance in design and engineering apps.

With Intel’s new vPro platform, Intel’s Core Ultra commercial portfolio also delivers advanced management features for IT Pros. The enhanced Intel Threat Detection technology will also leverage the new integrated NPU to improve anomaly detection and power efficiency.

“The new Intel vPro platform with Intel Core Ultra continues to raise the bar across productivity, security, manageability and stability, to ensure IT organizations manage transitions with confidence,” said David Feng, Intel VP of Client Computing Group and general manager
of Client Segments. “We are delivering new AI experiences with more than 100 software vendors, Windows 11 and Copilot. 2024 is shaping up to be the best year to refresh your fleet and be AI ready.”

The first PC manufacturers to launch new Intel-powered AI PCs for commercial customers this year include Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, and Microsoft. “James Howell, general manager of Windows at Microsoft said that we’re experiencing a “pivotal time in enterprise technology” with “improved efficiency, better graphics, and new AI experiences.”
