If several PC manufacturers are about to launch new Qualcomm-powered Copilot+ PCs this week, Microsoft is surfing on the IFA buzz to announce new business versions of its ARM-based Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7. The Intel-powered Surface Pro 10 for Business Edition will also soon be available with a 5G modem.
“At Microsoft, we understand that business customers are seeking more choices in silicon to meet their diverse needs,” said Nancie Gaskill, General Manager of Surface Business. “That’s why our lineup of Surface Pro and Surface Laptop devices now features Intel Core Ultra and Snapdragon X Elite and Plus processors, providing the flexibility and choice our customers are looking for.”
The Surface Pro 11 for Business will be available starting September 10 for the Wi-Fi version, with 5G models coming on September 26. A 5G version of the Surface Pro 11 for consumers is also coming later this fall.
Overall, there are no hardware differences compared to the consumer version of the Surface Pro 11, except for the addition of an NFC reader for NFC security keys. Otherwise, the tablet is available with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus and X Elite chips, up to 32GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, and an optional OLED display on the high-end models.
The new Surface Pro 10 with 5G for Business will be available starting September 26. It uses the same Intel Core Ultra chips as the Wi-Fi version Microsoft released back in April. It can be configured with Intel Core Ultra 5 or Ultra 7 chips, up to 64GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. The tablet also comes with a 33% brighter LCD display (compared to the previous generation) with an anti-reflective coating, and an NFC reader for passwordless authentication.
The new Surface Laptop 7 for Business will also be available starting September 10 with the same 13.8” and 15” display options as the consumer version. It also offers the choice between Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus and X Elite chips, up to 32GB of memory, and up to 1TB of storage. Be aware that there’s no additional NFC sensor on the Business version of the laptop, and Microsoft is also still keeping the OLED display option exclusive to the high-end Surface Pro 11.
“These devices are designed to enable your teams to simplify daily tasks, save precious time, and facilitate easier collaboration with new AI experiences like Live Captions, powered by the Windows Copilot Runtime on powerful NPUs,” Gaskill emphasized today. “Organizations and ISVs can take advantage of the over 40 on-device AI models included in Windows Copilot Runtime, from higher level APIs that can be accessed via simple settings toggle, all the way to bringing your own machine learning models. This marks just the start of the innovation we’re bringing to Copilot+ PCs, with new features and experiences rolling out through future updates.”
Lastly, Microsoft also announced the launch of a new Surface keyboard that will be available starting October 3. The full-size keyboard will add a new Copilot key for accessing Microsoft’s AI assistant. The new Surface devices aren’t live on Microsoft’s website yet, so stay tuned for pricing details.
