Samsung revealed today the Galaxy S24 FE, a more affordable “Fan Edition” model in its flagship smartphone series that starts at $649.99. The Galaxy S24 FE uses the same design as the more expensive Galaxy S24 and S24+, and it also supports Samsung’s new “Galaxy AI” features.

“Galaxy AI opens so many new experiences for users, helping them communicate, and be more creative and productive,” said SeaYoung Lee, Corporate EVP and Head of the Smartphone Research and Development team at Samsung Electronics. Galaxy S24 FE makes the powerful performance and premium Galaxy AI capabilities of the S24 series available to even more people.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will be running last year’s Android 14 and OneUI 6.1 out of the box, but will get seven years of Android OS upgrade and security updates. However, the Galaxy AI features that Samsung is offering on the devices will only be provided for free until the end of 2025. They include Generative Edit for photos, Live Translate, Google’s Circle to Search, and other features.

The Galaxy S24 FE will come with a 6.7-inch FHD+ “Dynamic AMOLED 2X” display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an under-display fingerprint sensor. Under the hood, the device features a 4nm Samsung Exynos 2400e chipset, 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, and a 4,700 mAh battery.

The triple camera system on the back includes a 50MP primary wide lens, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. On the front, the device comes with a 10MP selfie camera that can also be used for the optional face unlock feature. The Galaxy
S24 FE also supports Samsung’s ProVisual Engine to improve image quality.

While the Galaxy S24 FE is $210 cheaper than the base Galaxy S24, the latter comes with a better SoC (a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for versions sold in the US and Southeast Asia), better cameras, and twice the storage for the base model. The the Galaxy S24 FE is available for pre-order today in five colors (Graphite, Grey, Yellow, Mint, and Blue), and it will start shipping on October 3.
