Samsung Announces Galaxy Book5 Series Laptops

At CES today, Samsung announced the Galaxy Book5 Pro and Galaxy Book5 360 laptops, powered by Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors.

“We are thrilled to make Galaxy AI and cutting-edge innovation accessible to more people than ever before, addressing their unique productivity needs on PC and other Galaxy devices,” Samsung executive vice president Changtae Kim said. “Alongside our trusted industry partners, we are delivering an AI experience on Galaxy Book that empowers users to work, create and connect in more intelligent ways through our growing ecosystem.”

Oddly, Samsung doesn’t use the term Copilot+ PC to describe these laptops, though they of course meet the requirements. And that might be because it appears to be doing on the PC what it does with its smartphones by offering alternatives to the built-in software solutions provided by the platform maker. In this case, it offers a feature called AI Select that seems to duplicate some Copilot features in Microsoft Edge and a Photo Remaster tool that uses the PC’s NPU to retouch images and clean up blurry photos.

That said, the Microsoft/Samsung partnership continues forward with unique Phone Link features that let Galaxy Book owners integrate their phones with Windows 11 in ways others can’t. And it’s previewing several new features–Nearby devices, Storage Share, Multi Control, Second Screen, and Quick Share–that will only work with upcoming Samsung phones (presumably Galaxy S25 series phones).

From a hardware perspective, the Galaxy Book5 series PCs feature the latest Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. But the details vary by model:

Galaxy Book5 Pro (14-inch). 2.71 pounds, 14.-inch WQXGA+ (2880×1800) touch AMOLED display with 48 to 120 Hz refresh rate, 16/32 GB of RAM, 256 GB/512 GB/1 TB of SSD, in gray.

Galaxy Book5 360 (15-inch). 3.22 pounds, 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) touch AMOLED display at 60 Hz, 16 GB of RAM, 256 or 512 GB of SSD, in gray. Starts at $1699.99
