IFA 2025: Lenovo Opens with Three Exciting New Proofs of Concept

Lenovo is inarguably the most experimental of PC makers, as witnessed by the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, which transitions seamlessly from a standard 14-inch laptop form factor into a taller, portrait mode 16-inch design.

But it often carts out even wilder ideas at IFA. And this year, it has three proofs of concept designs at the show. I’ll have a separate write-up about these later, but here’s a quick overview for now.

The first is the ThinkBook Vertiflex Concept, which looks like a standard laptop but features a 14-inch display that rotates in place, allowing you to switch between a standard landscape (horizontal) orientation and a unique portrait (vertical) mode. When in portrait mode, you can place a smartphone to the side and use Lenovo’s Smart Connect app to transfer files between the two devices seamlessly.

The second is just as useful: The Smart Motion Concept is a multi-directional laptop stand that integrates with the camera, microphones, and speakers in a laptop to automatically raise, lower, and turn so that the screen is always facing you, even if you get up and move around the desk.

Finally, the NaturaSynth Display uses hardware-based zero blue light technology to mimic natural light while reducing blue light content to less than 1 percent, helping to reduce eye fatigue and improve eye comfort. Viewed side-by-side with an otherwise identical “normal” display, the look is pretty much identical to my eyes.

More soon.
