Amazon today announced a new Kindle Scribe lineup that’s been completely reimagined for productivity. And among the new models is the first-ever color Scribe.
“The new Kindle Scribe has a beautiful new design that’s just like paper—it’s ultra-thin at 5.4 mm, ultra-light at 400 grams, and 40 percent faster for writing and page turns,” Amazon explains. “The larger 11-inch glare-free display mirrors the proportions of a sheet of paper and feels just like you’re writing on one—it’s the perfect size for reviewing full-sized documents, feels natural for notetaking, and is easy to take with you wherever you go.”
There are three new Kindle Scribe models: Kindle Scribe without a front light ($429.99), Kindle Scribe ($499), and Kindle Scribe Colorsoft ($629). Each features a new pen with magnetic charging, a new texture-molded glass for smoother pen interactions, a rearchitecting display stack with Oxide display technology, a new quad-core processor, and more RAM. And the Kindle Scribe and Kindle Scribe Colorsoft both provide a new front light system with miniature LEDs for uniform lighting. All the new Scribes deliver “weeks” of battery life, Amazon says.

On the software front, the new Kindle Scribes include an all-new Home page with integrated Quick Notes, support for Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive so you can import documents and export them as annotated PDFs, AI-powered search capabilities, the ability to share notebooks with Microsoft OneNote, color-enabled pens and highlights, a new shader tool for creating smooth gradients and subtle tones, and a Workspace feature for organizing your documents, notebooks, books, and other items.
There are also some new AI-powered reading features like Story So Far, so you can catch up on the book you’re reading but only up to where you’ve read and without spoilers, and Ask This Book so you can get spoiler-free answers to questions while you read. These features will come to the Kindle apps on Android, iPhone, and iPad and to other Kindle models in early 2026.
The Kindle Scribe and Kindle Scribe Colorsoft will be available in the United States “later this year.” Kindle Scribe without a front light will be available early next year. And all three models will be available in the UK and Germany early next year, Amazon notes.
