At its Unpacked event in London today, Samsung shared more details about the first smart glasses it’s developing with Google’s Android XR platform. The new lineup of “intelligent eyewear” was first announced at Google I/O 2026 in May, and new frames from eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker were revealed today.
Samsung’s first smart glasses will be audio-based, just like Meta’s current AI glasses, and they will allow users to interact with Google’s Gemini AI hands-free. However, customers with a Samsung Galaxy Watch (or another compatible Wear OS watch) will also be able to raise their wrist to activate Gemini and use other hand gestures to control their glasses.
The smart glasses developed in collaboration with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster will offer up to 9 hours of active use, with up to seven additional charges provided by the charging case. The built-in camera will offer context-aware assistance and allow users to share what they see in real time. Google’s Gemini AI will also be able to summarize long messages, translate text and audio in real time, and help users find a route.
“The Gentle Monster edition features a slim frame in black, pairing a straight upper rim with softly rounded lower edges to create a refined and fashion-forward silhouette. The Warby Parker style features a subtly upswept brow line in a rich brown hue, creating a refined, versatile shape perfect for everyday settings.
These first Android XR glasses will be launching later this fall, though pricing details are still unknown. After Meta launched cheaper smart glasses starting at $299 last month, Samsung and its partners will probably need to match that price point to have a chance to compete.
“Google and Samsung have a shared vision to bring helpful and context-aware intelligence into everyday life,” said Sameer Samat, President of Android Ecosystem at Google. “Built on the Android XR platform, the intelligent eyewear blends world-class designs with Gemini’s advanced assistance that naturally responds to what you see, delivering all-day, hands-free help. We’re excited to continue this momentum and bring this experience to people soon.”
