Microsoft’s New $79.99 Surface Mouse Comes With Haptic Feedback and a Customizable Button

Microsoft is planning to launch a redesigned Surface Mouse on October 13 alongside its new Qualcomm-powered 12-inch Surface Pro and 13-inch Surface Laptop. At $79.99, the new mouse supports the new haptic feedback effects that Microsoft recently added to Windows 11, and it also includes a customizable action button.

“Its haptic feedback adds a small, purposeful physical response to the moment you usually only see on a screen: a click registering, a window snapping into place, or an object aligning just right. It is subtle by design, but noticeable within seconds — and hard to give up once you have it,” said Brett Ostrum, Corporate Vice President, Surface Devices at Microsoft.

This new Surface Mouse has an ambidextrous shape and is made with 30% recycled content. It’s powered by 2 AAA batteries that are included in the box, and with Bluetooth 6.0 support, it can be paired with up to 3 devices at once.

While the advanced haptic feedback functionality is mainly designed for system-level features such as Snap Assist, resizing windows, and dragging and dropping files, it also works with PowerPoint and other third-party apps. The customizable action button, however, can be used to launch Copilot and other shortcuts with a press, hold, or double-click.

This new Surface Mouse will be available in Black and Platinum from the Microsoft Store and other retailers. It’s been a while since Microsoft launched new Surface accessories, but this new mouse seems to be a pretty good value at $79.99.
