Linux Mint 21.3 is Now Available

Linux Mint 21.3, the popular Linux distribution’s latest long-term support release, is now available for download. Based on the Linux 5.15 kernel and an Ubuntu 22.04 package base, Linus Mint 21.3 “Virginia” will receive security updates until 2027.

“Linux Mint 21.3 comes with updated software and brings refinements and many new features to make your desktop even more comfortable to use,” the announcement post explains. “This new version of Linux Mint contains many improvements.”

I guess that’s true, but most of them appear to be pretty minor. Key updates include improvements to the Hypnotix TV viewer app, a new Action “spice” (add-on) for the Cinnamon 6.0 desktop environment that extends the capabilities of the file manager context menus, and experimental support for the Wayland graphics engine. There are also other improvements across the system and its in-box apps and utilities, including a collection of new background images.

You can download Linux Mint 21.3 from the Linux Mint website in Cinnamon, MATE (GNOME 2), or Xfce editions. Upgrades are available from Linux Mint 21, 21.1, and 21.2 as well.
