Elementary OS 8.0.2 is Here

Elementary OS 8.x pride

Elementary OS has been updated to version 8.0.2, with the user-friendly Linux distribution getting several useful new updates.

“It’s been about 6 months since our last minor release and the team has been busy,” Elementary co-founder and CEO Danielle Foré writes. “OS 8.1 is due to be released before year end and that post will be The Big One™ that wraps up every change since OS 8.0.”

This one is a very minor update. But here’s what’s new.

Installer and initial setup. The installer has been updated with some accessibility related fixes.

Music. The Music app gets new queue management features, performance improvements, and more.

Terminal. Bug fixes.

Hardware enablement. Elementary OS 8.0.1 delivers the latest long-term support Hardware Enablement stack from Ubuntu, including Linux 6.14, which provides improved performance, especially while gaming, reduced power consumption for certain AMD and Intel chipsets and GPUs, new security features, and support for more gamepads, Wi-Fi devices, microphones, and other peripherals.

But wait, there’s more. The Camera, Calculator, and Videos apps all got minor new updates.

You can get Elementary 8.0.2, and pay what you can afford, from the Elementary website.
