Microsoft Edge Dev Gets Improved Dark Theme, More

Microsoft has been frequently updating the new Microsoft Edge browser that’s based on Chromium. The company is today releasing a new build of the browser for those on the Dev channel, and it includes a bunch of new features and fixes. Microsoft has been testing a bunch of these features with those in the Canary channel over the last week.

The new build, 77.0.197.1, comes with an improved dark theme. Microsoft is expanding the coverage of the dark theme to support more parts of the browser, and it now includes a dark look for pages like Settings and History. These pages simply displayed the light theme even when you had the dark mode enabled in the past, so this is a very nice improvement.

The new build also introduces the ability to show only the icon for individual favourites, which is going to be really useful for organizing your favourites if you have a ton of links.

Here’s the full list of new features:

  • Added an option to show only the icon for individual favorites on the favorites bar.
  • Added dark theme support for full page screens (Settings, History, etc.)
  • Added more languages that you can display Microsoft Edge in.
  • Added the ability to choose which categories of diagnostic data are sent with feedback.
  • Changed the ability to pin a website to the desktop into the ability to pin a website to the taskbar.
  • Separated the ability to import cards and payment info from certain browsers away from the option to import other autofill data like names and addresses.

You should probably check out the full changelog here for the other fixes and minor improvements. If you already have the new Edge browser on your device, it should automatically update to the latest build — else, you can get it from the website here.
