Microsoft to Hold Surface Event on October 12

Microsoft will hold its next Surface event next month on October 12. The landing page for the event is already live on Microsoft’s website, and the live stream will kick off at 10AM ET.

The event image is an artistic version of the Windows 11 bloom wallpaper with watercolors. It may well be a subtle way for Microsoft to tease the new “Forest” and “Sapphire” colors that the company may introduce with its new Surface Pro 9.

According to reports, the new Surface Pro tablet will offer the choice between 12th Gen Intel Core processors and ARM chips from Qualcomm. The Surface Pro X is currently the only Surface device to use ARM chips, but Microsoft may soon get rid of the dichotomy.

On the Surface Laptop front, the new model is expected to offer the same 12th gen Intel CPUs as the Surface Pro 9. However, the new Surface Laptop 5 could be skipping AMD CPUs this year.

We’ll see what happens on October 12, and the company may well be planning a couple of surprises as well. Microsoft’s Ignite conference for IT pros will also kick off on October 12 this year, and you can already register for the free digital event. If there will be an in-person event for Ignite in Seattle, the company’s devices event is expected to be online only.
